Wheeee!! .....What a ride it has been so far!
Life before AFMC: very conventional
Life since AFMC: somewhat less so
Life at AFMC: shushh.... the children are still awake!

Most memorable teacher:
Prof Mysorekar (his first lectures on embryology are particularly well etched in my mind & still come in handy when trying to figure out the strange & uncommon).
Hung out with:

Hung out with:
Bugs, DJ, TC, Troy, Pia, Khon and a miscellany of
long haired, spaced out musician
types.
Best moment at AFMC:
Heck, hard to choose; perhaps one of the many
sunrises @ Ram Tekri?
Best moment as a "U":
a college election won twice.
Best quote about AFMC:
Best quote about AFMC:
On my first day of Internship, the Chief of
Medicine introduces me to his assortment of acolytes and neophytes on the
ward round: "....., and he is from AFMC: you can tell them from far, but
you can't tell them very much".
That turned out to be a self-fulfilling
prophecy for the rest of my life as a Medical Apprentice: to espouse the
strongest opinion in the room (not always a good idea, trust me!).
A nomadic life followed, with more exams than are good for you.

The traveller now rests, yet is restless.
Incidentally the bucket list also includes a
ponytail, a tattoo and a touring bike!
Now for the serious bit....
I am forever humbled by the hand dealt to me,
and without doubt the Ace of Spades will remain my association with
AFMC and "U": an amazing alchemy during a brief period in my life
during which I was more wave than particle.
I am thankful for the teachers who taught my
"hand" & "head", and for the parents who taught my
"heart". Thankful too for the troubadours who wrote the anthems &
sound tracks of my life. And thankful for the companionship
& camaraderie I have found then, and along the way. And for a
very tolerant family who can by now predict the next fatta from
me, and generally have loved and indulged me and my ways.
Thanks also to my roomies (SCM, Sandy & AshMish), for keeping me grounded and focused, while tolerating me and my cacophony (often out of tune and beat!), and for all the late night philosophical chat.
Would I have it any other way? No.
But, if I were not a doctor: I would probably have been an architect.

What I would change about AFMC:
AFMC will change itself... & evolve & morph
over time, and in step with the times. And some amongst us will have the
privilege of being the stewards of change, as Dean, Commie, TO, Faculty etc.
They will know that despite all changes, being an AFMC'ite is a state of mind:
not to be tampered with!!
And I will leave you with that most fearsome battle cry of all:
Saimbi ko Maaro!!!
Enjoy the Reunion, my friends: remember, I walk
amongst you.
