AFG: 2552
Nickname: Mandy
DOB: 18th October 1965
Address: 1524, Sector 34D, Chandigarh
Mob: 9888188230
Hobbies: Too many......Travelling, trekking, birding, Tai chi, reading, watching movies...

College memories:
Usually seen with: In the GH: with Sonya, TC, Neeta

At 10am in college insti: Neeta, KK, Pillai, Raju, Suri, Anya, Jackie, Muttu, Bhasin, Shishir
When rehearsing for plays: Sashi, DJ, Valsan, Shanks, George, TC

Never seen at: College Library: it gave me the creeps!
Hardly seen at: Clinics though once in a while if Rajiv Sood was taking the clinic!
Tongue in cheek moment: being chucked out of class by some PSM reader who called me: "You debater, you, I know you, get out of my class!"

Best moments: All of college was like a dream, definitely the best time of my life. Chai in the Insti, bunking clinics to watch old hindi movies, the lovely rain in the monsoons, so light that you love driving around in it, debates, plays, Mardi gras at IIT Madras, Pulse at AIIMS, Geetanjali express on the long journey home to Gangtok with the mandatory nine to midnight movie at Bombay followed by India gate, journeys on the Jhelum (Anya remember?), Katy's "Wanted outside" or "visitor" (wonder how many guys knew the subtle distinction between the two?), the (in)famous trip to Lonavala in 5th term, the experimentation with some "mood-altering" substances, election parties, college week, the list is endless!

Favourite teacher: Didn't attend enough classes to have a favourite!
What I could change about myself? : Nothing really
Wish I could change about AFMC: Nothing really, it was perfect!
If I was not a doctor: Running adventure tourism!
The journey so far: After college, internship in Base Hospital, Delhi with BKG, KK, Seema Bakshi and Thary. Postings at MH Patiala and Sevoke road, back to college for MD Radiodiagnosis, that is when I finally started studying and haven't stopped since! Senior Residency in PGIMER, Chandigarh and now have been on the faculty for 15 years. Teaching and learning with these bright young minds keeps me young at heart, the vacations give me time to indulge my wanderlust! With Sandha and Ravjit as my co-residents in Chandigarh, we keep meeting frequently along with whichever U batcher happens to be posted here or passing through.
My thoughts: You only live once, live life kingsize!

  1. Mandy, loved reading your write-up and the pictures as well. I do remember that trip on Jhelum Express. I cannot remember the context because it was just the two of us in the 3 tier compartment. The memory sent a tiny shiver down my spine, I wonder why. Please fill me in. ;)
