College memories ::

Usually seen with – Everyone exc. Batch girls, was too shy back then

Usually seen in – My room, friends’ rooms, classes, clinics (tried not to bunk)

Never seen in – Can’t say…have been to every nook and corner of the college then

Tongue in cheek moment – Eeeee….sala!….

Best moments: Passing I, II and III MBs, wining some prizes in college week, going home to parents during vacations

Favourite teacher: Mysie, Gokaran, Dash (was HoD Physio), KKPK, Judah, PS Chaudhury..there are so many! Regards to all my teachers. Wish I could meet them personally and thank them, now!

What I could change about myself – Nothing! Period.  (On a lighter note…..) I wish I could change my skin colour, for I have been ‘taunted’ by own batchmates on this…it hurt(s).

Wish I could change about AFMC – Nothing. (Again-with a pinch of salt…don’t mind this but I speak the truth and nothing but the truth) the N Indian superior mentality which I felt at times, looking down on people from other parts of the country. Incidentally our batch was also called “uttapam” batch by seniors.

If I was not a doctor – Would have been an Engineer. Got through both streams in my entrances.

The journey so far:

I guess this is about post-AFMC period.
Had a wonderful 24 ½ years in the ‘fauj’ – Ladakh, Mathura (marriage and both kids happened during this 1), Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Along (Arunachal), Dinjan, Sec’bad and finally Nagrota before I ran out of steam.
Did my PG during Ahmedabad tenure. Wife too was in Short service in Guwahati and Ahmedabad. Have seen most of India during army service. It was very good while it lasted – no cribs. The army instills in you a sense of patriotism, discipline and sincerity. The pension is adequate.
Children went to Army schools and did fairly well later. Son is an engineer cum MBA and daughter a corporate lawyer – both working now for the last one year.
Having left the AMC , I have taken up teaching Community Medicine alongwith my wife in a pvt. Med College in Hyderabad. Traveled abroad a few times and saw places that I had seen only in books, maps and the internet thus far!
Parents have been in good health and settled in Kolkata since 1995. My only sibling-my sister-is in Gurugram with her family and doing extremely well (both being MBAs).
What more could I ask for?
